1. Vikrant Massey is fascinating: This guy is rapidly rising to the top of my list of favourite actors. He creates Manoj’s personality with a lot of heart and humour. Even when he trips over his textbooks (which, let’s be honest, happens a lot), you can’t help but cheer for him.
2. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows: The difficult realities of going after your aspirations are not avoided in this film. There’s self-doubt to fill a swimming pool, along with pressure from family and society standards. However, it also demonstrates the value of self-belief and the strength of resiliency.
3. Humour that works: This film has plenty of belly-laugh-inducing scenes to keep you smiling the entire time. My own particular favourite? The amazing Raghubir Yadav portrays the proprietor of a chai business. His one-liners are pure treasure, and he has more wisdom in his tiny finger than most of us have in our entire brains.

Negatives

1. It’s a little too predictable: Let’s face it, the cliche of the underdog rising above hardship isn’t all that original. But you don’t mind the recognisable beats because the movie handles it in such a sweet and realistic way.
2. The movie takes its time creating up the plot, especially in the first half. As a result, the pacing can be a little slow at points. However, once Manoj embarks on his UPSC adventure, things move more quickly.

Overall:

“12th Fail” is a heartfelt, feel-good movie. While it’s not flawless, it’s an entertaining enjoyable, and motivational film that will make you smile and give you a whole new respect for tea. Therefore, “12th Fail” is a film that is well worth seeing if you’re searching for a reminder that everything is possible, even after a significant failure.
